Library Circulation Policy

The SLUB Library Circulation Policy is described in detail in the SLUB Library Rules and Regulations (in German).

All persons who are at least 14 years old can use the SLUB Dresden. By entering the library building, you accept our regulations and are entitled to use our freely available resources.

Overdue fines and fees for services will be charged accordingly. Please refer to the SLUB Library Fees and Charges for a detailed overview of these charges.

A valid user identification card is necessary for borrowing media from the SLUB Libraries.

Loan Periods

The loan period for books, audio and video is usually 28 calendar days. Special conditions apply for employees of the Dresden University of Technology (see below).

Special Loan Periods for Employees of the TU Dresden

Staff members of the TU Dresden can borrow book materials for up to 90 days. The loan period can also be extended five times for 90 days - as long as the item has not been put on hold by another user. For this purpose, we ask you to inform our employees explicitly of your wish for renewed loan periods. When renewing borrowed items via your user account, only the normal extension will be granted.

If another user expresses a justified need for an item on which a longer loan period has been granted, the item can be reclaimed by the SLUB at the end of the regular loan period.
