Secured WiFi

In cooperation with the Center for Information Services and High Performance Computing (ZIH) of the TU Dresden, SLUB offers you access to the internet via a secured WiFi at all locations.

WiFi in the SLUB library

How it works

All you need is a valid SLUBCard or an Eduroam login and a WiFi-enabled device.

Information for Eduroam members

Eduroam members please use the WiFi "Eduroam". This must be configured once. Eduroam provides a setup software for this purpose. Here you will find instructions for setting up Eduroam.

Information for other users

Please connect to the secured network SLUB. Here you will find instructions for the corresponding operating system:

iOS/iPadOS

Install the SLUB-WiFi profile once on your mobile device and enter your user number and password during installation.

 

Installation of the WiFi profile:

  • Download the profile via the Safari browser.
  • Select "Allow" in the profile installation dialogue.
  • Go to the settings "General/VPN and device management".
  • Select "SLUB WiFi" under loaded profiles and then click twice on "Install".

 

Troubleshooting:

  • If the dialogue at point 2 does not appear, click on the profile in the "Files" app to start the profile installation.
  • In case of connection problems, deactivate the option "Connect automatically" for the network "SLUB" under "Settings/WiFi". Then deactivate the WiFi under "Settings" and activate it again afterwards. Tap on the network "SLUB" to connect.

Please note that you need an active internet connection to download the WiFi profile SLUB-.

Linux/Android

To connect to the WLAN "SLUB" under Linux or an Android device, please make the following settings once under the network/WLAN settings:

Security 802.1x EAP (WPA2-Enterprise)
EAP method TTLS
Phase 2 authenticationPAP
CA certificateInstall system certificates or root certificate

Identity<USERNUMBER>
Anonymous identityAnonymous

Please note that you need an active internet connection to download the root certificate.

MacOS

Install the SLUB-WLAN profile once on your mobile device and enter your user number and password during installation.

 

Installation of the WLAN profile before MacOS Ventura 13:

  • Download the profile via the Safari browser.
  • After the system message, open the system settings
  • Go to the item "Profiles
  • Select "SLUB WLAN" under "loaded profiles" and then click on "Install
  • Enter your user number and password and click on "Install".

Installation of the WLAN profile after MacOS Ventura 13:

  • Download the profile via the Safari browser.
  • After the system message, open the system settings
  • Go to the item "Privacy and Security"
  • Select "SLUB WLAN" under "loaded profiles" and then click on "Install
  • Enter your user number and password and click on "Install".

Please note that you need an active internet connection to download the SLUB WLAN profile.

Windows 10

To connect to the WLAN "SLUB" under Windows 10, please proceed once as follows:

  1. Open settings
  2. Select "WLAN" on the left menu bar
  3. Click "Manage known networks" and then select "Add new network":

  4. Return to "Settings" and select "WLAN" in the menu bar.
  5. Or click on "Show available networks" - select the WLAN "SLUB" and click on "Connect".
  6. Enter user number and your password

Windows 11

To connect to the WLAN "SLUB" under Windows 11, please proceed once as follows:

  1. Open settings
  2. Select "WLAN" on the left menu bar
  3. Click on "Manage known networks" and then select "Add new network":

  4. Return to "Settings" and select "WLAN" in the menu bar.
