Events, courses and workshops

Sharing knowledge, learning from each other and experimenting together - that is what the SLUB Makerspace is all about. In our courses and workshops you will get to know all the devices and tools and meet other Makers and curious people. You will learn more about current projects from the SLUB Makerspace as well as the Makerscene and have the opportunity to organize events yourself.

The topics of our courses, workshops and events range from architecture and construction, education and sustainability to materials and manufacturing. Feel free to visit us - or bring your own events to us!

The events at the SLUB Makerspace are open to everyone. If there are any participation requirements for courses, you will find these in the respective announcement. You can get an overview of our courses in the events calendar. You can register for the courses online via the event page. Read more about our event formats here and find out how you can get involved yourself.

Our regular offers

Our device operating licences are courses in which you learn everything there is to know about operating the devices in the SLUB Makerspace. The device licence enables you to use the respective device independently and safely. It also enables you to expand your knowledge using your hands and realize your projects. You can work through our e-tutorials anytime and take part in our courses offline. Offline courses take place regularly, usually once a week. You can register for them via our event calendar.

You want or need to document your study or research project, but have neither the appropriate equipment nor the knowledge to take professional-looking photos? In this basic course you will learn everything about the exposure and its influence on the final photograph. Additionally, you will get to know the camera equipment of the SLUB Makerspace and its terms of use in one go. This course takes place regularly. You can find new dates and register via our event calendar.

Each semester we offer a series of events - workshops, bar camps and other event formats on a changing topic. All events are open to the public. The topics are related to our services at SLUB Makerspace. They might be all about a device, materials, or a certain kind of technology. This year, we celebrated our ten year anniversary in May!

Perhaps you would like to present an exciting project from your research, studies or hobby to an interested audience? Feel free to contact us if you have an idea! The SLUB Makerspace team looks forward to receiving your email.

Whether it's a television, a sewing machine or a hoover: repairing everyday objects on your own is not always easy - but it is always more sustainable than buying new ones. Repair cafés offer help for self-help. Since May 2022, repair cafés have been held once a month by the TU Green Office and the RepairCafé Dresden/Freital initiative at the SLUB Makerspace. Here you can get free advice, learn from experts , repair what you love and get in touch with like-minded people.
