Can I renew my SLUB CARD online?

No, the extension of the validity of the SLUBcard is not possible via an online form or any other web option of the user account.

But you can renew the validity of your SLUBcard via the contact form on the SLUB homepage, via SLUB Chat or by phone at +49 351 4677-390.

For this purpose we need the following data from you:

  • user number
  • name, first name
  • date of birth
  • current address
  • Students of the TU Dresden: photo/scan of your student ID or certificate of enrollment (in case of renewal by phone, please present it at the service desk during your next SLUB visit

I would like to use the SLUB for a short time period only. Do I still have to register?

If you intend to use our online ressources or would like to lend books from the SLUB, you will need a SLUBCARD. For simply staying at the SLUB you do not have to register.

What do I have to pay for using the SLUB?

Using the SLUB is free of charge.
However, there are fees for specific services, such as digitization orders, interlibrary loan, or exceedance of lending periods.

Who is allowed to use the SLUB?

All persons of 14 years and above may use the SLUB Dresden.

How long is my SLUBCARD valid?

The SLUBCARD is valid for 400 days.

Why should I sign in to my user account?

There are extended features available if you sign in to your user account on the SLUB website. By doing this, you can easily order media from the closed stacks, request or reserve borrowed media or view licensed documents from outside the SLUB.
 

 

How do I find a specific medium in the library building?

Identify the signature of the desired medium on the basis of the catalog entry, for example, ZH 3470 W214. This signature will be linked. When clicking the link, you will be directed to the 3D model. There you will find the exact location of the shelf as well as further information.

 

Are there guided tours through the treasure chamber in the book museum?

Yes, there are. Public tours through the treasure room take place on Saturdays at 2:00 p.m. Fees will not be charged. Interested parties meet in the foyer in the Central Library.

I would like to donate books to the SLUB. Is this possible?

Yes, it is. Please send us a list with information on title, author and year of publication by email or mail.

What are book boxes and how can I get a book box?

Book boxes are lockers where borrowed items can be kept temporarily. Please get in touch with our staff at the circulation desk of the respective SLUB location. In case all book boxes are occupied, you can make a reservation via the SLUB catalog.


What are "Semesterapparate" ?

A Semesterapparat is a compilation of selected media (key texts) for a course at university. There are Semesterapparate consisting of books (Buchsemesterapparat), there are electronic Semesterapparate as well as audiovusual ones.

Who is authorized to use a carrel (individual study room)?

Students who are writing their final thesis can apply for a carrel. A lottery then decides on the allocation of the carrels.
