About the SLUB

The Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) is one of Germany’s biggest academic libraries. As a traditional state library, the SLUB comprehensively collects and archives publications on Saxony as well as deposit copies published in Saxony. As library of the TU Dresden, the SLUB accounts for the supply of information of a research-focused full-fledged university with an especially broad range of subjects. As state library, the SLUB fulfills important coordinating and service functions for the libraries of the Free State of Saxony.
The SLUB coordinates the State Digitization Program for Science and Culture of the Free State of Saxony. It also operates the Dresden Digitization Center (DDZ), a leading center for mass digitization. Furthermore, the SLUB is a member of the competence network Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek. It collaborates in numerous third-party funded projects for digitization and significantly contributes to the development of production- and presentation software as well as robotic technology.
The SLUB is a public enterprise of the Free State of Saxony. Its organization and functions are regulated via the Act on the Saxon State and University Library Dresden.

Library Locations

The SLUB spans different locations: the Central Library, the Departmental Library DrePunct as well as four further branch libraries.
The Central Library mainly holds the collections of the following subjects:
Architecture, Biology, Hydrology, Chemistry, Humanities and Social Science, Mathematics, Physics, Psychology, Linguistics and Literature Studies.
