Current services

From 11/01/2021 onwards, we will be able to provide emergency lending and download services. In view of the dynamic infection situation and overall tense state of affairs, contact avoidance remains our top priority in terms of health and safety. The following therefore applies: Online first – obtaining information and resources off-site remains the ideal solution for the time being.

TU members are asked to please take advantage of the free scan delivery service SLUB on Demand where possible.

New registrations, SLUBCard renewals, advice and courses will also continue to take place exclusively online or by telephone.

Opening Hours an Booking of an appointment

Please check our opening times and book an appointment online if you plan to visit the Central Library. Access to the decentralised locations will be granted separately on-site. Contact information will be registered using the contact registration tool of the Free State of Saxony.

Stay a maximum of 30 minutes, observe hygiene measures

You can only stay a maximum of 30 minutes. This time limit is the same for all locations. Please wash your hands after entering the library.
During your visit, items and some PC workstations on-site will be freely accessible to you. Please use the self-checkout machines where possible.

Wear a facemask during your stay and keep a sufficient distance from others at all times.

SLUB card

  • New registrations are possible online.
  • You can also register at the service desks in any of the open SLUB locations.

ORDERING & BORROWING, RENEWAL & RETURN

  • Items can be borrowed and returned at all SLUB locations within their opening hours. It is still possible to return items by post. Loanable stack and open access items are marked accordingly in the catalogue. Some reference items can also be borrowed at the moment. These items have the following status in the catalogue “zur Zeit Kurzausleihe möglich” (short-term loan currently possible).

  • Stack requests are possible for all items that can be taken outside of the library. Items ordered before 11am will be available for collection on the same day.
  • New item reservations will be possible again from 29/03/2021. As a result, items will no longer be automatically renewed after this date.

  • Interlibrary loan orders are also still possible.

Loan periods and overdraft fees

  • With the extended opening hours from 29/03/2021, the automatic renewal of borrowed items will no longer be possible. In order to avoid late fees, we ask you to regularly renew borrowed items and - in the case of reservations - to return them on time. In your personal account you can see an overview of all due dates, and we will also remind you of any upcoming returns as usual by e-mail. 

How can I submit my dissertation?

Dissertations can be submitted. If you want to publish your university paper electronically on Qucosa, please register it using the input assistant on the Qucosa website. All formal requirements can, therefore, still be clarified in advance.

How can I submit compulsory literature?

It is still possible to submit compulsory literature in accordance with the Saxon Press Act (Sächsisches Pressegesetz). You can send them to us by post. You can find more information on the delivery of compulsory copies here. You can contact the staff in the department for processing deposited works by email at pflicht@slub-dresden.de or by phone at 0351-4677-281.

digital services

All of the SLUB’s digital services are available as usual. In addition to electronic publications, numerous databases are accessible to all SLUB users worldwide, regardless of location.

Expanded digital services | additional options for full-text searches

In order to make researching easier during the coronavirus crisis, some publishers and database providers have made their services more accessible (you can find an overview here). In order to give non-TU members access to our e-resources as well, ten PC workstations have been set up as “SLUB Data Filling Stations” (SLUB-Datentankstelle)  and will be available for use in the Central Library from 13.5.2020. Our Digital Collectionssachsen.digital and the Landeskundeportal Saxorum also offer additional research opportunities, not to mention these useful services and tools for researching freely available full-text versions ("open access research").

SLUB on demand

We offer the free scanning service SLUB on Demand to members of the TU Dresden.

E-Tutorials

We have and will continue to increase our range of e-tutorials: for example, Zitat statt Plagiat - Was, warum und wie zitieren?! (Quotation Instead of Plagiarism - what, why and how to quote?) is fresh from the oven. You can find a complete overview of our SLUB tutorials here.

Knowledge bar (Wissensbar)

Our Knowledge Bar (Wissensbar) service is still available. Consultations can take place either online or by phone. The SLUB TextLab writing consultation service is also available via Skype. Click here to choose a topic and book an appointment.

Buying tip service

Our buying tip service continues as usual: We still order the desired media. Please use this form to contact us. If possible, we purchase the electronic version.
