Tharandt / Forestry Library
The Tharandt / Forestry Library is located in the center of the Tharandt campus of the department of forest sciences in the Rossmaessler-Bau.
The branch library houses more than 126.000 volumes, among them approximately 200 current journals and a large number of bound journals.
A Highlight is the old stock with valuable works of the 16th to the 19th Century. Particularly the main collections on forestry and hunting are among the most comprehensive historical collections in German-speaking countries. It is only available for in-house use.
Another noteworthy part of the stock is the collection of degree and diploma theses of Tharandt, which have been collected since 1876. Today it also includes bachelor and master theses.
Do you want to study in a relaxed environment close to nature? Then you can't go wrong with our study spaces/desks, where quiet group work is also allowed in some cases.
In the special reading room with 6 study spaces/desks, you can use the works of our vast historical collection. This is considered the priority use of the room. However, if this room isn't currently needed for the previously mentioned purpose, it can be used as a group study room.
Our electronic research and information services can be accessed via our PC workstations and the campus-wide WiFi.
In addition, print items can now be scanned for free using a Bookeye 5 V3 colour overhead book scanner (up to A3 format). You can save your scanned documents to your own USB stick, send them by e-mail or transfer them to the "Scan2Mobile" app. We also have ScanTents available at all locations.
