The music collections of the Dresden Court Church and the Royal Private Music Collection from the time of the Saxon-Polish Union. Cataloguing, Digitization and Internet Presentation

Current status Court Church & Royal Private Music Collection

Description The period of the Saxon-Polish Union (1697-1763) is the most brilliant period of Dresden court music. The instrumental compositions from the so-called Schrank II (over 1,750 sources, including 19 Vivaldi autographs) were catalogued and digitised from 2008 to 2011 with funding from the DFG. The processing of the precious musical heritage of the Dual Monarchy was continued from 2013 by the project referred to in the title, which also led to numerous musical discoveries and music-historical insights. The subject of this project was the processing of mostly vocal music holdings from the Dresden Catholic Court Church and the Royal Private Music Collection, whereby the KPMS is made up of the musical estates of prominent members of the House of Wettin and culminates in the original parts of Bach's Missa in B minor. A total of more than 1,700 musical items have been described in detail in the database of the international source catalogue RISM. In addition, 2,300 musical items have been professionally scanned and made usable in the SLUB's digital collections or with the help of other platforms. Among them are 65 manuscripts originating from the KPMS, which for historical reasons are no longer in Dresden but belong to libraries in Berlin, Brussels, Halle, Hamburg or Leipzig and are now virtually united with the original holdings. In addition, 600 scribal hands and 1,200 watermarks were documented and indexed in the special catalogues created for the predecessor project, which are part of the cross-project website. The project output also includes the symposium Collecting - Making Music - Researching. On Dresden court music of the 18th century. The electronic publication of the conference report is planned for the first quarter of 2017.
