The museum has a permanent exhibition and changing exhibitions on various topics. You can see the Maya Codex in our permanent exhibition. It is one of the most beautiful and complete of the Mayan documents. There are only four of them in the world. The Maya Codex was written between 500 and 1100 years ago on the Yucatán peninsula. Today, Mexico, Guatemala and Belize are all on this island. The librarian Johann Christian Götze bought the codex in Vienna almost 300 years ago. It was not until over 100 years later that people realised it was a Mayan manuscript.

The museum is on the 2nd floor. It is open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00 and on Saturday from 14:00 to 18:00. Admission is free.
