Saxon State Preservation Office
The state office plans and coordinates the preservation of the holdings in the area under the control of the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism (SMWK) in accordance with the state program. Priority is given to organizing and financing major projects such as mass deacidification and issuing the necessary central invitations to tender.
Conservation in Saxony is integrated into supra-regional conservation concepts and networks. Unnecessary duplication of measures is to be avoided and centralized verification for Saxony is to take place.
With the Saxon Workshop Days the state office organizes continuous training and discussion on preservation topics.
It works closely with the preservation officers at the university and college libraries in Saxony and advises and supports institutions in all matters relating to preservation.
