Coordination Office for Provenance Research in Public Libraries in Saxony
The Saxon State Office for Libraries is the first library specialist unit in Germany to offer scientific support in dealing with historical collections for public libraries. There are currently 77 public libraries in Saxony (as of 2024) with special collections and historical book collections that reflect the cultural diversity of the Free State of Saxony. With its work, the Coordination Office for Provenance Research supports the municipal institutions in dealing with historical collections. This includes networking, cataloging special collections, preservation, provenance research and dealing with Nazi-looted property.
