Consortia and Alliances
The Saxon State Office for Libraries leads various consortia, such as the film portal filmfriend, the reading portal Onilo and the learning application Actionbound, enabling public libraries in Saxony to take advantage of numerous offers at reduced costs.
Filmfriend movie portal
Would you like to offer your users easy online access to a comprehensive video-on-demand offering? With filmfriend this is possible. Users log in with their library card number and password via their library's homepage or directly on filmfriend - and they can start streaming. The film catalog ranges from German films to successful international arthouse cinema titles, TV and cinema documentaries, mainstream titles, children's films and series.
The film portal is a service provided by filmwerte GmbH, with which the state specialist department has concluded a consortium agreement to establish a network. All interested libraries can join the network. We are the contact point between the participating libraries and the provider. Are you interested? We will be happy to advise you!
General information
Onilo is a German reading portal that offers board stories. These animated picture books can be read on a PC or tablet, used for children's events and for free use in the children's library. There are also worksheets to print out, craft instructions and interactive material for PC and tablet.
Onilo supports the libraries with ideas, instructions and seminars for practical implementation in the facilities.
Onilo consortium for Saxony
More than 40 Saxon libraries have already joined the Onilo Consortium Saxony. Since 2022, libraries have been able to choose between two license models. A library license allows access to the entire range of services. There is also a lending license. The special feature of this license is the possibility of lending individual board stories or Onilo access.
Here, too, we are the contact point between the participating libraries and Onilo. We provide information about offers, special promotions and licenses and advise interested libraries.

New learning world: "Understanding climate change with Malick and Adissa"
In cooperation with Welthungerhilfe, four freely accessible German board stories were created with central aspects of the topic of climate change. The child-friendly board stories offer the opportunity to discover the connections between nutrition, food waste, water and climate change.
Onilo and ESD
A handout from Onilo for libraries contains suggestions on the topic of "Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung" (Education for Sustainable Development) with a focus on "Nachhaltiger Konsum" (Sustainable Consumption).

The special training course "Klimabildung in der Grundschule – BNE mit Onilo" (Climate education in elementary school - ESD with Onilo) is particularly suitable for elementary school, but is also popular with libraries and provides good insights into approaches.

Actionbound learning application
Actionbound is a learning application that can be used to create digital experience rallies (called Bounds). Whether library tours, quizzes or themed rallies: there are many possible uses in the library. The State Library Office will be happy to put you in touch with the provider.
There is a consortium between Actionbound and the state specialist unit. This means that all participating libraries in Saxony receive a 10 percent discount on the list price
Regional online lending networks

There are three eLibrary networks in Saxon libraries. The State Library Office supports their further development and annual coordination meetings.
Onleihe Sächsischer Raum
The e-media network Onleihe Sächsischer Raum is the largest network of its kind in Saxony. A wide range of media (books, magazines, audios) can be borrowed, downloaded or streamed here free of charge.
Onleihe network bibo-on
The e-media network bibo-on has been operating across cultural areas since May 2015. Registered users can borrow digital media here for a limited time. The offer includes e-books, e-papers and e-audios.
ONleihe Oberlausitz
Registered users can borrow digital media from ONleihe Oberlausitz for a limited period of time. With access to selected Munziger and Genios online databases, the network offers additional sources of information.

ÖVK - Union Catalog for Public Libraries
On the initiative of the Saxon State Office for Libraries, a consortium agreement was concluded with the Joint Library Network (Gemeinsamen Bibliotheksverbund - GBV) in 2021, which enables Saxon public libraries to list their holdings centrally in the GBV's Union Catalog for Public Libraries ( Verbundkatalog für Öffentliche Bibliotheken - ÖVK). This enables them to order and lend any item from another institution that is not available in their own library. More than 100 libraries in Saxony already belong to this network.
The participation of public libraries in Saxony is supported by the cultural areas. Would you like to take advantage of this offer? We would be happy to inform you about the possibilities!
Library data transfer → ÖVK / data updates
Participating libraries transmit their media data to the union catalog. The ÖVK provides instructions for data export on the documents page. Libraries that are not BIBLIOTHECAnext user libraries should contact their software providers for data export.
As a rule, the entire holdings are transferred four times a year. Shorter intervals and updates (differential export) - for example monthly - are possible after consultation with the ÖVK .
Interlibrary loan
The ÖVK provides training documents on online interlibrary loan in the ÖVK as a working aid for interlibrary loan.
