Specialist area for counselling and supporting Saxon children's and youth libraries with a focus on language and reading promotion, media and information literacy, media and democracy education and education for sustainable development . We promote networking and professional exchange with formats such as ‘KiJuBi-Meet&Greet’.

To support public libraries in rural areas, the Saxon State Office for Libraries provides supplementary stocks free of charge - depending on requirements, materials ranging from picture book cinema to MakerBox and delivery by courier. We also have a wide range of specialised literature relevant to libraries.

Library staff are constantly dealing with new tasks and technologies in their everyday work - the State Library Office's training programme offers the know-how for this. At the same time, the events provide a forum for professional dialogue. Suggestions for topics are always welcome!

The Saxon State Office for Libraries leads various consortia, such as for the film portal filmfriend, the reading portal Onilo and the learning application Actionbound. This enables public libraries in Saxony to take advantage of numerous offers at reduced costs.

As the first specialist library centre in Germany, we have set up a coordination office for Nazi-looted property and offer Saxon local authorities help with the academic search for Nazi-looted property in public libraries, restitution and processing for the public.
