The SLUB as a Coordination and Service Centre
The tasks of the SLUB as a service and coordination centre for Saxon libraries are defined in the SLUB Act as well as in the structural and development plan "Library System Saxony" (Struktur- und Entwicklungsplan „Bibliothekssystem Sachsen“). On the basis of this concept, the library leads state-wide development projects and working groups, provides central electronic services and specifically supports the performance of smaller libraries. One of the main tasks is the expansion of the digital library. The SLUB coordinates Saxony's contributions to retrospective digitisation and is also the state office for the preservation of library materials.
