Cooperation of Saxon emergency associations
On 11 December 2012, at the invitation of the Dresden Emergency Association, an exchange of experience took place in the Dresden Residence Palace between representatives of the emergency associations from Leipzig and Dresden as well as the Emergency Association Oberlausitz, which is currently being founded (date of foundation 18 Sept. 2013). An important concern was to exchange experiences in founding or expanding the association. Consensus was also reached to coordinate and cooperate in the future, if necessary, especially on preventive issues.
Further meetings followed. For example, in 2013 the materials and equipment of the 'Emergency Response Unit for the Protection of Cultural Assets' (Notfallzug Kulturgutschutz) - which was established in Dresden with project funds from the "Coordination Office for the Preservation of Written Cultural Property" (Koordinierungsstelle zur Erhaltung des Schriftlichen Kulturgutes) - were presented to representatives of all three associations. On 6 December 2018, the newly elected management of the Emergency Association Oberlausitz (Upper Lusatian Emergency Association) was once again a guest on the same topic. On 16 June 2021, representatives of the emergency associations of Leipzig, Freiberg, Oberlausitz and Dresden met at the Dresden Fire and Disaster Control Office to jointly inspect the equipment of the Notfallzug Kulturgutschutz (Emergency Response Unit for the Protection of Cultural Assets).
Other interested cultural institutions from other regions of Saxony are cordially invited to attend follow-up meetings or to arrange such meetings with the Dresden emergency unit.
