Emergency Response Unit for for the Protection of Cultural Assets

The equipment for the Emergency Response Unit for for the Protection of Cultural Assets (Notfallzug Kulturgutschutz) was procured in cooperation with all the cultural institutions in the Dresden Emergency Association and in cooperation with the emergency associations in Leipzig and Upper Lusatia. The basic financing was provided within the framework of a model project funded by the Coordination Office for the Preservation of Written Cultural Property (Koordinierungsstelle zur Erhaltung des schriftlichen Kulturgutes). The emergency response unit is stationed at the Dresden Fire and Disaster Control Office (Dresdner Brand- und Katastrophenschutzamt). The equipment includes protective clothing, electrical and transport equipment, a tent, tables, chairs, various packaging materials and boxes for transporting the cultural property.

On 11./06/2014, the Dresden Emergency Association presented the emergency train for the protection of cultural property to the press in the presence of the Second Mayor of the state capital Dresden, Detlef Sittel, and in particular with the support of the Dresden Fire and Disaster Control Authority and the Dresden-Kaitz Volunteer Fire Brigade. (Press release)
