Art historian, born on 12 September 1899 in Dresden, died on 15 May 1988 there.

Like no other, Fritz Löffler rendered outstanding services to the preservation of historical monuments and equally to the promotion of the fine arts in Saxony since the 1930s, but especially after 1945.

The estate, comprising 8,082 numbers in 58 units, was bequeathed to the library by Fritz Löffler in 1988. He also bequeathed materials from the estate of Wolfgang Balzer (1884-1968) to the Saxon State Library, which can be found under the call numbers Mscr.Dresd.App.1689 and Mscr.Dresd.App.2550.
