Ilse Bornitz Collection

The SLUB received the cookery book collection of Ilse Bornitz, a long-time employee of the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz, from a bequest.

Ilse Bornitz worked as a librarian and until the early 2000s often organised large exhibitions on eating, drinking and dining culture, in which cookery books played the most important role. The collection includes not only cookery books, but also books on eating and dining culture as well as a small collection of children's menus from the former GDR.
