Film Promenade Annaberg-Buchholz 2024
We preserve treasures – and display them publicly! In cooperation with the city of Annaberg-Buchholz, local businesses and the Saxony Film Association, the SLUB showed film clips depicting events from the city's history and everyday life at 14 locations in Annaberg-Buchholz from 10 February to 10 March 2024.
The films were digitized as part of the "Safeguarding the audio-visual heritage in Saxony - SAVE" program funded by the Free State of Saxony and will also be available online in the SLUB media library after the presentation in Annaberg-Buchholz.
The old film treasures now flickered across the screens in Annaberg city center in the shop windows of the tourist information office, Apollo, freiluft, Bettymoden, Schuh-Sehm, Euphemia, the Erzgebirge bookstore, Thiele-Lederwaren, the patchwork store, Leo's Trendmode, the Annaberg ceramics workshop, Mode-Marius, the city boutique and the vacant store next to Pizzeria Milano. For example, there was footage of the singers' meeting in 1957, the parade on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the GDR, the Day of the Saxons in 1994, but also depictions of Ore Mountain craftsmanship and other things. The films reflected everyday life as well as highlights from various decades and are part of the cultural memory of the Free State of Saxony.
We wanted to encourage residents and visitors to Annaberg-Buchholz to do the same with this film promenade: Show us your analog film and sound treasures! Perhaps we can preserve them together for posterity and make them accessible as part of the SAVE program. You can find out more about the SAVE project here.
