The SLUB Dresden specialises in photography and art from 1945 onwards. We have a comprehensive collection of specialised literature on art history, photography, design and commercial art. We also collect written bequests from artists and photographers. A speciality is our collection of graphic art and artists' books.

Collections Art
As a focal library for contemporary and contemporary art as well as photography, SLUB Dresden also collects source material in the subject areas of art and photography. In the graphic arts and artists' book collection, original graphic artists' books and magazines are collected. In addition, we can also call a small collection of paintings our own, in which primarily portraits of former library directors can be found.

The Deutsche Fotothek

The Deutsche Fotothek at the SLUB Dresden is one of the most important image archives in Europe. Founded in 1924 as Sächsische Landesbildstelle, it is now the central location for the preservation, research and communication of Germany's photographic heritage with a collection of around seven million photographs and an online offering of around 2,334,000 image media.
