Legal Deposit, Exchange, Donations
The SLUB as library of the Free State of Saxony collects all printed materials, audio and electronic media which are published in Saxony and ensures their long-term archiving and availability.
Publishers and editors in Saxony are obligated to deposit one copy of every publication without charge according to the "Sächsische Gesetz über die Presse", 3 April 1992. We have been cooperating successfully with many regional publishers for many years.
To some publishers or editors are not aware of this obligation. If we encounter a lack of publications, we contact the publishers. If you miss any books published in Saxony in our stock, we appreciate your comments.

University Papers and Art Publications
We offer publications of the Dresden University of Technology, particularly theses, for exchange. Primarily we exchange theses with our partners at home and abroad. But also other institutions can order theses in exchange against the reimursement of shipping costs.
List of available university publications
The SLUB is responsible for the special subject collection "Contemporary Art after 1945, Photography, Industrial Design and Commercial Art" (Contemporary Art), as part of the DFG's (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) special-collections program. Therefore we are in intensive art museums and art institutions all over the world from whom we receive exhibition catalogs and other publications.
Special subject collection Contemporary Art
We welcome donations to our collections. Please note the following information:
- We welcome donations which enrich our collections according to our collection profiles. The items have to be in good condition. Multiple copies are only accepted in exceptional cases.
- We cannot accept outdated reference books, textbooks, and legislations. Fiction and publications from GDR times can only be accepted in selection.
- Items can only be donated without any claims and they are subject to our right of disposal. Agreements on any conditions (special labeling, closed-access or separate shelving, using restrictions, transport conditions etc.) can only be made in exceptional cases.
Up to 10 media items can be handed over at our information or lending desks. Please enclose the completed accompanying form.
If you want to donate a larger number of books or media please contact us in advance an - if possible - please send us a list of titles. For accepted donations with a value of more than € 100 we provide a donation receipt upon request.
