Open Access Publishing at the SLUB

What is Open Access?to top

The Open Access movement believes in providing unrestricted access to scholarly and scientific literature in the Internet. This means more than the fact that anyone can participate in the advancement of academic research—it is also of great use to publishing academics, who are able to reach an especially high degree of visibility and impact in the scholarly community with open access publications.

There are two ways in which we provide advice and support to scholars wanting to publish via Open Access:

  • The Golden Road refers to the primary publication of scholarly and scientific articles and monographs in an Open Access journal.
  • The Green Road means self-archiving a digital version of an article; this can take place before, after, or at the same time as publishing in a traditional closed-access publication.

Open Access at the TU Dresdento top

On March 14, 2012, the TU Dresden published its Open Access Resolution, which encourages scholars to:

  • Make their scholarly publications available online via the document server Qucosa, as long as publishing agreements allow, and to
  • Publish in peer-reviewed Open Access journals.

With the Open Access Resolution, the TU Dresden underscores its commitment to a strategy for the future which is promoted by scientific societies, organizations and universities in Germany and worldwide. The SLUB Dresden offers advice and guidance to help scholars publish and archive their work via Open Access.
