How Do I Use the Advanced Search?to top

Using the advanced search, you can limit your search results in advance by specifying the fields to be searched, e.g. title information, creator names, publishers, publishing years, ISBN, etc. You can combine up to three fields for your search. The Boolean operator used for combination is AND.

You can also select the way your search terms are matched with the metadata in the respective fields. Depending on your selection, your search terms are contained anywhere in the selected field, contained as an exact phrase, or contained as a phrase at the beginning of the selected field:

The default setting is "contains", i.e. your search term might occur anywehre in the field you specified. If you enter more than one term, they are combined for the search using the operator AND in the default setting. You can use other operators (OR and NOT), wildcards or quotation marks for phrase searching just like in the simple search.

How Do I Refine My Search Results?to top

You can refine your search results by using the facets on the right hand side of the result list. Publication periods, for instance, can be easily set after the search.
