Stenographic collection
With more than 50,000 stenographic units (of which foreign units in 52 languages), the stock of the stenographic collection is largely representative of the 2000 years of the history of stenography and of the whole specialist literature of the German speaking territory. The focus of this collection is on stenography, typescript / word processing and office management.
The stenographic collection is openly accessible. Normally, printed stock is available for borrowing outside the Library. Six reading desks are available for reference use in the open access area and lending library of the stenographic collection.
This collection includes books from four centuries of the following groups of stock:
- Bibliographies, handbooks, history books,
- Textbooks, reading books,
- Special stenographies,
- Periodicals,
- System theory and methodology,
- Reports and commemorative publications,
- Yearbooks, calendars,
- Mechanical engineering,
- Shorthand Braille,
- Braille typewriting,
- Handwritings and original texts in shorthand,
- Photographs, transparencies, films, sound recording media,
- Corporate periodicals of office equipment firms,
- Prospectuses and leaflets, instructions for use and manuals for office equipment, and
- Standards (keyboards, document layout).
