The Saxony State Preservation Office manages and organizes the preservation activities according to the state program for all institutions under the responsibility of the Saxon State Ministry of Science and Art. Primarily major projects such as mass deacidification are organized and financed and tendering procedures are executed.
The preservation in Saxony is part of national preservation strategies and networking. Unnecessary duplication of activities should be avoided and a central cataloging for Saxony shall be accomplished.
The Saxon workshop days organized by the State Office guarantee continuing education and discussion on preservation issues.
It cooperates closely with the preservation officers at the university and college libraries in Saxony and advises and supports institutions in all aspects of preservation.
